It’s a Baby Girl

LOS ANGELES (May 27) – The baby has arrived _ and no, they didn’t name her Brangelina. Thousands of miles from Hollywood but still within easy reach of celebrity hype, Angelina Jolie gave birth to Brad Pitt’s daughter Saturday in Africa, Pitt’s publicist announced.

“The night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. No further information is being given,” publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a statement. No photographs were being released, she added.

Oh, I like the name!! (said Mary, who is usually remarkably uninterested in celebrities but makes an exception for Angelina!)

The name is nice but when coupled with the meaning of the name, one really has to wonder if Brangelina believe their own press.

A baby is born and that makes me smile. The name is peaceful, pretty and soft.

Ok, I just looked it up. Shiloh means ‘gift’ or ‘he who was sent.’
Nice meaning for a nice name. Sorry for being clueless…but what about their press?

Mary, obviously not up on the latest gossip

I just looked it up; according to babynames.com, Shiloh means “peaceful.” Nouvel means “new.” Both seem apt for a new baby. :-)

    Congratulations to them. :)

Mary, your post about Beyond Borders was wonderful. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate reading about your family and the path that you and your husband have been on through adoption.

I won’t go into everything here because I don’t want to take over your comments section. LOL! However, adopting a child is something that has been on my heart for 2 years now. My husband, on the other hand, is definitely not in the same mindset at this time. He’s not totally against us doing it but he’s definitely not ready to fill out the paperwork like I am. Although, within the last 2 weeks there has been some stirring in his heart and I’ve seen it softening towards the idea. So, I’m continuing to pray that the Lord’s will be done in both our hearts and actions. Whatever that may be. It will be interesting to see where He will lead us. :)

Shiloh is such a pretty name. I really wish them the best, they are two celebrities I can handle.

O.k….I’m going to have to be brash here, but it’s deserved, I’m afraid.

He’s an adulterer and she’s a homewrecker — what’s to like about that?

From what I’ve read, Angelina and I share a heart for children– that is the facet of her personality that interests me. I for one am hoping they will rise above the decisions in their past and manage to make a good stable life for their children’s sakes. A tough job for a couple of movies stars–time will tell if they can succeed. But I am rooting for them….

What a pretty name! Angelina is just so beautiful – that catches my attention, along with her heart for those in need. I don’t care for much celebrity stuff – we don’t even watch TV, but I buy people magazine if she is in it!

  • About Me

I'm Mary, wife to John, and mom to 10 kids ages 3-20. Six of them were adopted, from Ethiopia and Korea. I spend my days applying Bandaids, reminding kids to use their inside voices, persuading kids fractions are useful, cooking spicy ethnic food, and snapping gig after gig of pictures. Very late at night, I write about it all.
