Sweet, sweet deal on cereal at Albertson’s

May 6, 2008 by Mary Owlhaven

For those of you who live near an Albertson’s, this week is a great week to stock up on cereal. If you have a preferred customer card, you can buy 10 boxes of General Mills cereal for $10. If you have coupons, the deal gets even sweeter. I happened to have a fistful of coupons and today I bought TWENTY boxes of cereal for– get this– $11.50. Awesome. Talk about having fun shopping– that was definitely it.

Oh, and for the curious, we eat cereal two mornings a week (about two boxes per meal) which means that the cereal I bought today will last about 5 weeks.

You just don’t know how much I appreciate you taking the time to write this precious little gem of a post. My kids are HUGE cereal eaters…I just went to the Albertsons website and checked and the sale is also happening in our area. Thank you thank you thank you. :)

Wish I lived near Albertsons. I never even heard of them before Planet Nomad mentioned that store on her blog recently.

AND I’ve never heard of cerial that cheap in the recent past.

When I lived on the West coast we had Albertson’s, now on the East coast it’s Acme (same store tho). I did the cereal deal as well, but for us it was buy 10 for $15 with your card. I had 10 $1 off 2 boxes coupons, so did 2 transactions. By the time I paid for both (my 1st transaction gave me a $5 off your next order coupon which I immediately used), I spent 13.80! Apparently the tax came off too!

That is awesome. I hate spending extra money on groceries.

AH! I am heading over there today!! Were they nutritious cereals? Or were they sugary?

Cheerios and Kix were two of the choices. I bought Golden Grahams and Chex too. I have my kids eat a serving of healthy cereal before the sugary kind stuff…

here’s another great freebie of the week -
If you live near Walgreens, they have a deal going on this week where they give you Register Rewards (RR) back if you buy certain items and you get more RR back the more items you buy.

So- follow carefully- If you buy 10 tubes of Crest pro-health toothpaste all in one transaction, and have the cashier scan the coupon from inside this month’s walgreen’s rebate book for $3 off 2 tubes of Crest toothpaste, you’ll pay $10 plus tax but you’ll get back a RR coupon worth $20 off your next Walgreen’s purchase (valid for the next 2 weeks). Um hello! You just made $10 and got 10 tubes of toothpaste free :)

Only good through saturday. Happy shopping!

    Hi Mary,

I just wanted to let you know that I ran out and took advantage of this great deal. I shop at Vons (because they double coupons) and am always forgetting to look for deals at the Albertsons. Thanks so much. I got 20 boxes also exept mine cost seventeen dollars. Still a great deal at under a dollar a box.

    Thanks again,
    Julie

I did this too – I spent less than $17 (including tax) and saved over $62. In fact, I need to go back over there and do it again…
