Works For Me – Quick Gift Wrapping

December 6, 2006 by Mary Owlhaven

I’ve discovered that sewing tools can make gift wrapping quicker. I use my rotary cutter and my rotary cutter board to cut chunks of wrapping paper the right size. The rotary cutter cuts twice as fast as a scissors, and the cutting board even has lines on it that make it easy to cut straight lines. The paper does dull the blade, but changing the blade is easy and cheap, and well worth the time I save cutting paper for gift after gift after gift.

I love using one. I was told that if you use it for paper, dont switch back to using it on fabric. It changes the blade.

That’s clever, I’ve used pinking shears for decorative edges until my pinking shears are dull. So now I have two, one for paper, one for fabric.

Great idea! I always end up ripping the paper when I use scissors. At least wrapping will be easier this x-mas! Thanks! :p

What a great idea. I bought a rotary cutter a few months ago and haven’t used it yet. I’m supposed to be making my first quilt, but have been too intimidated to get started with it. :o)

Great idea. Of course, that would require digging out my rotary cutter and board. It might be next Christmas before that happens. ๐Ÿ™‚
