It has been warmer here — I am sooooooo glad. The tulips are about 4 inches tall now. Maybe in a couple weeks we’ll have some blooms. Every year at this time I wish I’d planted more bulbs in the fall. The spring flowers are so wonderful. (translate- they bloom without me doing a thing!) But every fall I am so DONE with gardening that I don’t even think about bulbs.
This morning I got outside and pruned our fruit trees. It was a beautiful morning for it, and it was nice to feel productive.
For the last couple weeks I’ve been nearly living at the dentist’s office. Among 9 kids, 4 needed at least some work. 20 cavities altogether, I think–eek! Most of them were our new daughters’. Neither girl looks like she’ll need braces (they have beautiful straight teeth–hooray, hooray!) But I guess we are doing a little catch-up with fillings. Thankfully we have decent dental insurance.
This week we’ve also begun soccer season. This year we’re trying out a new recreational league that schedules only one practice and one game a week, always at the same field. Even with 3 kids in soccer, I think we should be able to handle that. During our last stint in organized soccer, each team had 2-3 practices a week, and some of the games were 2-3 hours away. Made me nutty!
We’re also planning our yearly trip to the ocean in a few weeks– I can’t wait! I am more than ready to take time off school for play. Truthfully, I’m more than ready for summer vacation-this has been a challenging school year. But we do have a lot of fun things planned in the next little while, especially now that we’re almost done with the dentist! And spring is a wonderful season. No sense wishing that away.
I am loving your stories about the best letter you ever got. Please keep them coming!
